“I have a lot of experience behind me and I hope to put that to good use in the future,” she said as she emerged from the count hall.

She admitted it had been a nail-biting ride as transfer votes became critical in the final day of the count.

She said she would take a ‘well-earned few days off’.

She plans to spend time with her family and grandchildren.
