Gary Elliott, Clendinning Way, Portadown, admitted disorderly behaviour on February 11 this year and criminal damage to a door.

He was put on probation for 18 months and ordered to pay £200 compensation.

The court heard that at 6.45pm in McDonald’s at The Meadows a male was drinking Buckfast.

Staff told him this was not permitted and asked him to leave but he became aggressive and started shouting and swearing at them.

He left the restaurant but returned later. He was not allowed in and again began shouting and swearing before slamming a door causing damage to the disabled access button.

There were young children in the area.

Elliott, who was extremely intoxicated, was told by police to keep his voice down but continued and was arrested.

A solicitor said his client had drank a lot of alcohol and had little or no recollection of the incident.

He added that Elliott was ‘shocked and ashamed’ by what he had said and his behaviour.

Deputy District Judge Rea said this was the second time Elliott had been involved in this kind of behaviour.

Imposing the probation order he said that the defendant should undergo the treatment programme.
