Excellent results for final pupils of Drumcree College

Students and staff of Drumcree College have been celebrating an excellent set of GCSE results, as the school marks its final days.

Drumcree College to be replaced by a new school, St John the Baptist’s College, on the same site on September 1.

According to principal Noella Murray, students achieved the results across a wide range of traditional academic, applied and vocational subject areas.

Mrs Murray congratulated all students on behalf of the Board of Governors and wished them every success in their chosen pathway for next year.

She commended the hard work and pastoral care afforded to these students by her dedicated staff over the last five years.

The principal also praised teaching staff involved in delivering a range of after-school GCSE revision classes which, she said, had significantly contributed to this year’s successful results.

The top achievers were Mathew Hoey- LSC, Renate Dreimane, Kara Judge, Conlon Cullen, Rafaella Tavares and Edibella Dos Prazeres.

Drumcree College, a non-selective school, will be replaced by in just a few days time.

Mrs Murray said many parents were looking forward to the launch of the new college “which marks a new and exciting beginning for post-primary education in the Portadown area”.
