LOYALISTS have thrown fireworks at police during a tense night in Portadown.
Up to 100 people gathered in the town centre at 6pm as part of the Province-wide protests over the removal of the Union flag from Belfast City Hall.
After blocking the town centre to through traffic the group moved to Northway where it is believed one of the protesters was injured following a collision with a car. The injured person was taken away by ambulance.
The group walked along Northway and it is believed a number of fireworks were thrown towards the Tunnel area at Obins Street.
The loyalists eventually made their way to the bottom of Garvaghy Road at Castle Street where they were met by a strong police presence. Fireworks were thrown towards officers.
The protesters were dispersed by police before they made their way back towards the town centre.
