Had drugs in prison

While he was in prison an attempt was made to smuggle drugs and tablets to a 26-year-old man, Craigavon Magistrates Court heard last Friday.

John Joseph Mulholland, Moyraverty Court, Craigavon, admitted unlawful possession of a class C drug, Diazepam, and unlawful possession of a class B drug, cannabis, on March 26, 2014.

The court heard that a member of the prison staff saw a visitor pass items to the defendant. They were seven blue tablets and two small blocks of cannabis.

Mulholland was a prisoner at the time and admitted the items belonged to him and the visitor had nothing to do with it. The visitor was his brother.

The case was adjourned until April 1 so that a pre-sentence report could be obtained.
