Members of the public, sporting organisations, clubs and societies can comment on the proposed detailed design of the new £30 million leisure centre in Craigavon - so come along and have your say!!.

Armagh Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council are holding six public consultation days throughout September so that people have the opportunity to feedback on the draft designs.

Lord Mayor of Armagh Banbridge and Craigavon Councillor Garath Keating is urging people to make sure of this opportunity. He said, “Your feedback will help make sure the new centre is of the highest specification, well designed and most importantly fully utilised by people in all parts of the borough for a variety of recreational activities.”

He continued, “Council staff will be there throughout to talk to people answering their queries with the professional design team coming along in the evening. People can also leave their comment via computer, comment box or flip chart. So make sure you’re part of the consultation process”.

The consultation days are being held at the;

Watersports Centre, Craigavon, Saturday 3rd September from 9am-5pm

Waves Leisure Centre, Lurgan, Wednesday 7th September from 9am-9pm

Craigavon Leisure Centre, Craigavon, Wednesday 14th September from 9am-9pm

Cascades Leisure Centre, Portadown, Wednesday 21st September from 9am-9pm

Banbridge Leisure Centre, Banbridge, Wednesday 28th September from 7-9pm

Orchard Leisure Centre, Armagh, Thursday 29th September from 7-9pm

Projected to be completed in 2019, the new multi-functional centre will be one of the best examples of indoor and outdoor leisure provision in the UK.

It will also be the only leisure facility in Ireland that has an integrated watersports centre, offering a much enhanced and unrivalled programme of activities.

Proposed features include:

• Eight lane pool measuring 50m x 17m;

• Fun leisure (with large inflatable play equipment) and teaching water (with adjustable floor level);

• 300 spectator seats;

• Wet and dry side changing facilities;

• Watersports centre;

• Outdoor watersports adventure;

• Eight-court sports hall;

• Fitness gym;

• Health suite with treatment rooms;

• Spin studio;

• Dance studio;

• Five activity rooms;

• Two squash courts;

• Open hub space;

• Café; and

• Crèche/soft play area.
