A fine of £200 was imposed on a Portadown man last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for using a moped without having insurance on April 13 this year.
Twenty-year-old Byron Smyth, The Olde Golf Links, Portadown, also received six points and was ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.
The court heard that he was stopped in Mandeville Street. Portadown, and given seven days to produce his insurance.
He later attended at Portadown police station with an insurance policy dated from April 14, the day after he was stopped.
His solicitor said it was an administrative oversight on behalf of the defendant’s mother.
