Man put on probation for twelve months

A Portadown man was put on probation for 12 months last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for unlawful damage to a door on April 2 this year.

Darryl Parr (39) of Kernan Crescent was also ordered to pay £200 compensation towards the damage he caused.

A solicitor for Parr said the incident happened over an alleged debt.

He added that Parr, who had drink taken, saw this person going into his home carrying shopping while earlier in the week he told the defendant he had no money to pay him.

Parr had since moved away from the area, said the solicitor.

District Judge, Mr Mervyn Bates, said a pre-sentence report indicated there had been improvements in certain areas and he felt a probation order would be of some assistance.
