Murder accused O'Dowd to apply for bail

A Gilford man accused of murdering his former girlfriend Laura Marshall is to apply for bail.

Gary O’Dowd with an address at Knocknagore Road is to appear via videolink at the Royal Courts of Justice in Belfast tomorrow morning and apply for bail.

The 36-year-old is currently in custody accused of killing Ms Marshall on a date unknown between March 30 and April 3 this year.

Last week he was back in the dock at Craigavon Court to face previous charges of threatening to kill Ms Marshall and assaulting her on March 23 this year.

The body of the popular dental nurse, described as “bubbly, fun loving and full of life” by her friends, was found by a maintenance man in a block of flats on Victoria Street in Lurgan on Sunday April 3.

Police launched a murder investigation following a post mortem examination and O’Dowd was arrested that evening, denying involvement in his partner’s death throughout a week of police questioning.
