Pair returned for trial on series of charges - including assault

A 30-year-old man has been returned for trial to Craigavon Crown Court on a series of charges including assaults on the police.

And a 34-year-old woman had also been sent for trial to the same court charged with trying to pervert the course of justice.

Gregory Pio McConville and Susan Haughian, both of Carrigart, Craigavon appeared last Friday at a preliminary enquiry.

The charges against McConville allege that between June 13 and June 14 last year he drove dangerously at Tullygally East Road and Carrigart. He is also charged with driving while disqualified on June 14, two assaults on police, two offences of resisting police and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Haughian is charged that on June 25 last year with intent to pervert the course of justice she made a statement to police which contained false details. She is also charged with furnishing a false statement to police and on June 14 obstructing a constable.

Both were remanded on bail to appear for arraignment at Craigavon Crown Court on March 8.
