Local charity shop Portadown Cares has confirmed its move from the old Woolworths store in the High Street Mall to the ex-Clinton Cards unit in The Mall and will officially open on Monday.

The new premises are 4,000 square feet and the shop ethos will be to help those in need, who through no fault of their own have come upon hard times. The shop will continue to stock used furniture from beds to dressers, as well as clothes.

The store already has 16 volunteers who run it in their own time and it will be open 9am-5pm Monday to Saturday and until 8.30pm Thursday and Friday.

Phyllis Abraham, vice-chairman of Portadown Cares, said, “We are delighted with the new premises, and that we can continue to provide our service, and supply pre-loved furniture to those in need. It is a modern retail unit in a prime location in High Street Mall and very accessible and convenient for all our customers.”
