Two Portadown men who ended up fighting with each other in the street both admitted disorderly behaviour when they appeared last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.

Twenty four year old Noel George, Timakeel Lodge, Portadown, was fined £120 and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The case against Kyle Coulter, Markethill Road, Portadown, was adjourned until March 5 so that a pre-sentence report could be obtained.

The court heard that at 1.40am on October 13 a group of eight people were walking along Mandeville Street. Two of them were being hassled by the other six.

Six of them walked back and the other two, the defendants, said they would walk home. One of the group of six told police to keep and eye on them as they were going to fight.

The defendants started to fight at the junction of Mandeville Street and Shillington Street. Both said the other one had thrown the first punch. They were cautioned for disorderly behaviour.

A solicitor for George said he had a clear record and that too much alcohol had been involved.

He explained that the two parties knew each other and got into a bit of a scuffle. The solicitor said there was no bad blood between the parties. It was a blip which should not happen again.

A solicitor for Coulter said it was a case of too much alcohol.
