HOUSING Executive tenants in Redmanville, Portadown are having their existing single glazed windows replaced with new uPVC windows courtesy of a scheme currently on site in the estate.
The recently awarded contract costing almost £500,000 includes 198 Housing Executive homes. The majority of the properties were built in the 1950s, and consist of a mixture of houses, bungalows and flats. Loma Wilson, district manager, said she was delighted that work is under way.
“This is a major boost for our residents living in this estate and we are delighted that were able to start this scheme. The windows being replaced in these properties had come to the end of their useful life. By replacing them now, tenants should benefit from greater energy efficiency, noise reduction as well as lower heating costs,” she said.
“We will continue to liaise with tenants to keep them informed of progress throughout the scheme and will work with our contractor Bann Ltd to address any issues which may arise.”
Contractors Bann Ltd operations director, Anne Fox, said, “We have a great deal of experience in delivering schemes and are committed to achieving high quality workmanship and high levels of customer satisfaction and when completed we carry out customer satisfaction surveys to assess and monitor our performance.”
Betty Irwin was one of the first tenants to get new windows as part of the scheme. She said, “I’m delighted with my new windows. Not only do they let in so much more light than the original ones but I’ve noticed that the house is far warmer - so hopefully I won’t have to have the heating on as much either!
“I would like to say a big thank you to my housing officer Pauline Campbell and to the workmen - they were really good with me and to be honest the benefits far outweigh any disruption there was while the windows were being installed.”
The scheme is being delivered by Bann Ltd at a cost of £484,482.
It will include 198 homes at various locations including: Brownstown Park, Clounagh Park, Corcrain Gardens, Drumannon Park, Drumcarn Gardens, Drumilly Green, Glanroy Avenue, Glanroy Close, Hartfield Avenue, Hartfield Square, Loughgall Road, Seagoe Court and Westland Road.
