Mr Hatch, who is the Chairman of the Board of Governors of Millington Primary School, recently welcomed the Minister of Education Mr O’Dowd, the Chief Executive of the Education Authority Mr Gavin Boyd, Mrs Dolores Kelly MLA and Councillors for the area to the official sod cutting of the new 12 classrooms.

Millington Primary School is one of the largest Primary Schools in the area with over 660 pupils.

The school was built over 45 years ago and with enrolment and class sizes increasing, the classrooms are no longer fit for purpose.

Mr Hatch said: “We have been lobbying under the leadership of Mrs Heather Murray for an extension for many years and were bitterly disappointed over a year ago when we were just outside the list of capital approvals.”

“It was great to see the contractors on site and the diggers excavating the foundations. We look forward to completion in May of 2017,” Mr Hatch concluded.
