The case had been adjourned from a previous court to see if Chapman was suitable for community service.

A public prosecutor said that at 12.50am police were attending to a serious incident in Queen Street, Lurgan.

They were making an arrest when a group of males came past. One of them, the defendant, shouted obscenities at police and continued to be abusive even after he was warned about his behaviour.

Mr Richard Monteith, representing the defendant, said the offence was at the lower end of the scale and Chapman was available for community service.
