Upper Bann MP David Simpson has lavished praised on Portadown Railway Station after a tour of the newly refurbished facility.
“I was delighted to see firsthand the upgrade on the new Railway station. For several years now I have lobbied hard on behalf of my constituents to get a new Railway Station for Portadown,” he said.
“At a cost of £3.6million with funding from the Department of Regional Development and the European Union this has indeed been a magnificent transformation; all passengers can now enjoy first class facilities including full disability access.”
Alderman Sydney Anderson MLA added, “The work has been long overdue but is truly now fit for purpose and a train station to be proud of. It will encourage shoppers to Portadown and is much-needed boost for the town.
“Whilst on the visit we also toured the exterior of the station and identified a number of environmental issues which would need attention.
“We will be working with the statutory agencies to have these issues addressed which will further enhance the refurbished station.”
