A new formal wear boutique, that promises chic bespoke services at an affordable price, is set to open in Portadown next Friday.

Le Boudoir, which will stock bridal wear and outfits for special occasions, is owned by sisters Karen Burns and Donna Crain, and will be situated at the top of Market Lane.

The sisters are originally from the Killicomaine area; Karen still lives in the town while Donna moved to England 20 years ago.

Donna set up her wedding and special occasion boutique in Surrey, after her own wedding five years ago. She said, “I had designed and made my own jewellery and people started asking me to make pieces for them, and it just grew from there.

“I came back on a visit to Portadown and I thought it was so lovely, with little independent businesses.”

While Karen will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the boutique, Donna will return once a month for personal design consultations with customers.

Le Boudoir stocks dresses from the UK and USA, a range of accessories and jewellery designed and made by Donna as well as high-end stationery.

One of the more unusual items are corsets, which can be handpainted and inscribed with personal touches such as the couple’s initials or wedding date. Two will be on display.

Said Donna, “The aim is to let the bride be part of the whole design process, but at no extra cost.”
