Thought he was clear to pull out

When he thought it was clear to pull out of a junction a 44-year-old man caused a collision with another vehicle.

Anthony McAtamney, Roes Hill, Lawrencetown, was fined £150 last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for driving without due care and attention.

He was also given three penalty points on his licence.

The court heard that a two vehicle road traffic collision happened on December 15 last year on the Dromore Road, Lurgan, at the junction of Moss Road and Summerhill Road.

The car driven by the defendant had pulled out of the junction and collided with the other vehicle whose driver suffered minor whiplash injuries. McAtamney said that he thought the road was clear and that was why he pulled out.

A barrister representing the defendant said it was a lapse of concentration of his part. He added that McAtamney had been driving for 26 years without a blemish on his record.
