It was a triple celebration on Friday when three Portadown siblings graduated on the same day from the same degree course.

Stewart (23), Sarah (22) and Anna (21) Hobson were each awarded a BSc Hons in Food Technology, from the College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise.

Sarah and Anna obtained First Class Hons, with the sisters also scooping first and second prizes respectively in the DARD prize - awarded to the students achieving the highest marks in all subjects in the final year of the course.

Anna also won the Brian Scott Memorial Cup for the student achieving the highest marks in the final year research project.

Meanwhile, both girls were presented with the Advanced Diploma in Personal and Business Communication.

Stewart, who achieved a high 2:1 and also won a prize for his dissertation, intends to return to do a Master’s degree in Food Technology.

Sarah is due to start a job with the Kerry Group in Naas while Anna has secured a post as technical director with Simply Fruit Ireland.

The graduation ceremony at Loughry campus was attended by their parents David and Yvonne.
