Touched woman on buttocks as she left

While ushering a woman out of his home a 32-year-old man let his hands move from her back to her buttocks, Craigavon Magistrates Court heard last Wednesday.

Oscar Guimares, Dingwell Park, Lurgan, pleaded guilty to touching a female and that it was sexual on June 21 last year.

The case had been adjourned from a previous court so that a pre-sentence report could be obtained.

A public prosecutor said that the injured party attended at Lurgan police station saying she had been at the defendant’s address through a work matter.

As she was leaving Guimares was behind her. He put his hand on her back as he was ushering her out before moving his hand to her buttocks and saying: “You have a lovely bum.”

When interviewed by police he apologised for his actions and said that he treated everyone the same way but admitted that he had made a mistake.

A barrister representing the defendant said he had no previous convictions and the pre-sentence report assessed him as a low likelihood of re-offending.

Deputy District Judge Peter Prenter said community service would mark the seriousness of the matter and imposed 150 hours.
