Town solicitor suspended by Law Society

Portadown-based solicitor Andrew W J Walker has been suspended, the Law Society for Northern Ireland has confirmed.

The society said it has now taken control of Mr Walker’s practice, which continues under its supervision.

In a statement to the Portadown Times, the society said, “Take notice that, pursuant to Article 15(2) of the Solicitors’ (Northern Ireland) Order 1976 (as amended) and by Order of the Council of the Law Society of Northern Ireland dated 29 June 2016, the Practising Certificate for the time being in force, of Andrew W J Walker, whose last practice address is at Andrew Walker & Co. Limited, 6 Bridge Street, Portadown, County Armagh BT62 1JD, has been suspended.

“Take further note that this may be the subject of an Appeal by Andrew W J Walker. Pursuant to a statutory Power of Attorney in favour of the Society on 27 June 2016 in respect of Andrew W J Walker, the Society has now taken control of Mr Walker’s practice. It continues under our supervision.

“Please note that the above named must not be confused with another firm of solicitors named Walker McDonald, Solicitors, 2-6 Edward Street, Portadown, Co. Armagh BT62 3LX.”
