When she was caught driving a car while under the influence of drink a 20-year-old woman gave her friend’s name when asked for her identity by police, Craigavon Magistrates Court heard last Wednesday.

Kerry Hanna, Tullyroan Gardens, Portadown, was fined £100 and banned for 16 months for driving with excess alcohol on March 23 this year.

She was also fined £200 for not having insurance, £100 for taking the vehicle without the consent of the owner and £75 for not having a licence. As well she was given a conditional discharge for 12 months for obstructing a constable.

A solicitor for Hanna said she had been at home drinking with her friend who had gone to bed. The defendant decided to go and get cigarettes. He added she had never been in trouble before.
