Some 22 unsung heroes from across Craigavon have received a Mayor’s Award for their contribution and dedication to their local community.
The local champions from Portadown, Lurgan and Brownlow were VIP’s at the Mayor of Craigavon, Councillor Mark Baxter’s high profile reception at Craigavon Conference and Civic Centre recently.
With citations presented by television presenter Paul Clark, the community heroes enjoyed a sit down meal, music by pianist Mrs Mabel Gibson and then received a medal with a personalised scroll of honour from the Mayor.
They received their community awards for a variety of vital community based services including Edenderry Community Development Association, Portadown BB Anchor Boys, St Columba’s Penguins, St Vincent de Paul, Birches Action Rural Network – the list goes on.
