A woman used a pair of pliers to remove the tags from clothes she stole from a store in Rushmere Shopping Centre, Craigavon Magistrates Court heard last Friday.

Fifty-one-year-old Danuta Novak Alchoukair, St John’s Court, Portadown, admitted stealing clothes valued at £94.95 from TX Maxx on March 1 this year and going equipped for theft.

The court heard police went to the store where the defendant had been detained by staff.

She had paid for one item but not for other items she had in a bag.

When asked how she got the tags off the clothes she produced a pair of pliers.

At Lurgan police station she made a full admission to stealing the items, which were fit for re-sale.

The case was adjourned until August 15 so that a pre-sentence report could be obtained.
