A 21-year-old woman who had an “extremely high reading” was banned from driving for 14 months last Wednesday at Craigavon Magistrates Court.

Kayleigh McDonald, Old Mill Manor, Laurelvale, was also fined £200 and ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy for driving with excess alcohol in blood on December 24 last year.

The court heard she was stopped in William Street, Portadown, and failed a preliminary test.

A blood sample gave a reading of 207 – the limit is 80.

Mr Hugo Marley, representing the defendant, explained that she worked in the pub restaurant trade and, given the time of year,
unfortunately her discipline slipped.

Imposing the 14-month ban, District Judge Mr Mervyn Bates said he could not ignore the extremely high
reading.
