UP to 100 jobs are to be created at Rushmere Shopping Centre after it confirmed plans for four new store openings in the coming weeks.

Plans are also in the pipeline to include more new stores towards the end of the year, adding more jobs to a complex which already employs 1,500 staff on a full and part-time basis.

One of Northern Ireland’s busiest retail hubs, Rushmere Shopping Centre said Pets at Home, Poundstretcher, Home Bargains and Discount NI had secured 43,000 square feet of prominent retail space.

Rushmere Shopping Centre’s retail tenants already include anchor stores Sainsbury’s, Debenhams, H&M and Curry’s.

Shopping centre manager, Martin Walsh, said, “A key element of Rushmere’s success has been our ability to provide customers with an innovative retail mix that keeps shoppers coming back.

“As one of the leading, fastest-growing shopping complexes on the island of Ireland, I’m confident we can continue to deliver more growth, create more jobs and a great retail experience in the year ahead.

“It’s exciting to think we are now home to even more well-known brands and we hope this will not only encourage our existing customers to keep coming back, but also bring thousands of new shoppers to the area.”

Rushmere occupies a 28-acre site in the centre of Craigavon.

It combines a 350,000-sq ft covered mall with a major retail park, served by 1,800 free parking spaces. Its scale, coupled with its location just minutes from Junction 2 of the M12, means it is the regional shopping centre for the south and west of Northern Ireland, with a catchment that stretches across the border into County Monaghan.

The ground level mall is anchored by an 85,000-sq ft Debenhams and a 50,000-sq ft. Sainsbury’s store.
