AS if meeting pop superstar Justin Bieber wasn’t exciting enough for Portadown girl Abbie-Leigh Herron, then came an incredible moment when she received an emailed photograph of the pop superstar from a friend last week.

Abbey-Leigh’s dreams came true on February 17 when she met the American back-stage before his sell-out concert at Dublin’s O2.

The Clounagh Junior High School pupil chatted briefly with Bieber before presenting him with a distinctive yellow and black baseball cap designed by her cousin, the Belfast designer Linda McBride.

So you can imagine the frenzied reaction in the Herron household last Wednesday when Bieber walked out on the street in London wearing the very hat that Abbey-Leigh had given him.

Bieber himself even posted a photograph of himself wearing the cap to his seven million followers on Instogram, and it sparked a lot of tongue-wagging on the social networking site.

“I bought Abbey-Leigh tickets to meet Justin as a surprise for her 12th birthday, and we were both completely star-struck,” explained Abbey-Leigh’s mum Nicola.

“He came across as a really nice fella. We got the photo taken with him and presented him with the cap. As part of the ticket you are then right at the very front for the concert. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity and it was a great night that Abbey-Leigh will never forget.”

The real excitement began last Wednesday with Nicola alerted to something extraordinary as Abbey-Leigh ran down the stairs screaming with excitement.

“She was sent an instogram of Justin and he was wearing the hat that we had given him,” said Nicola. “She must have screamed for a couple of hours. All the different celebrity websites were full of talk about the hat and where it had come from. It’s just fantastic to see that he was wearing the cap.

“The company is Street Urchin and it’s only been up and running for five weeks. It’s a great start for them too!”
