Boy (11) assaulted near People’s Park

AN 11-year-old boy has been the victim of what appears to have been a racially motivated attack in Portadown.

The incident took place on Lower Garvaghy Road on Wednesday, November 21.

Around 6pm the boy was walking opposite the gate to People’s Park when he was approached by three to four males wearing dark coloured tracksuits, with their faces covered. The males shouted racist abuse before pushing the young boy to the ground and kicking him. The male sustained cuts and bruising which required medical treatment.

A lot of cars passed the area when the assault was taking place and police are appealing to anyone who witnessed this incident or has information in relation to it to contact them on 0845 600 8000.

If you prefer to provide information without giving your details you can contact the independent Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 1111.
