Bus shelter campaign delivers for residents
A PORTADOWN Times campaign for a new bus shelter at Kernan has delivered for the residents of the area.
Led by Councillors, Alderman Woolsey Smith and Robert Smith, the campaign has finally bore fruit after five years.
“We are delighted that after five years we have now got the much needed bus shelter for the residents in Kernan,” they said.
“It has been a long time coming and on the back of numerous complaints which we had received and the letters that residents had written to the Times, the case has been well made; we now see the success of that community pressure. It has been difficult and while disappointed that it has taken some time, it has been a successful spirited campaign. We would wish to thank the Portadown Times for highlighting the issue for residents, Lorraine Crawford the director of environmental services at the council for all her help in progressing this issue; Roads Service, in particular George Shilliday and most of all, the residents of Kernan for bringing this to our attention.”
