A PORTADOWN couple who lost their home in a fire were given a lifeline this Christmas after winning a competition run by the Donnelly Group car dealership.

To celebrate the new and used vehicle group’s 65th anniversary, the Donnelly Group offered one lucky customer the chance to win their cash back on their vehicle.

Noel and Mildred Jackson were chosen at random by independent adjudicators Price Waterhouse Coopers (PwC) and picked up a cheque for the amount they paid for their used 2011 Citroen C3 Picasso from Donnelly Bros Citroen in Dungannon.

Anyone who bought a used car between October 31 and December 14 2012 were entered into the draw to win that ultimate cash back prize.

Mildred said she couldn’t believe what she was hearing when she got the call.

“Our phone hadn’t been working for five days and the first call we received once it was fixed was the Donnelly Group to tell us we had won the amount we paid for the car. I just couldn’t believe it,” she commented.

“We lost our home in a fire due to an electric blanket so this is a lovely surprise given what we have come through. We are very grateful to all the staff at Donnelly’s- what a wonderful Christmas present.”

Director of the dealership, Raymond Donnelly, said they were delighted to present the Portadown couple with the cheque.

“The Jackson family is such a worthy recipient of our anniversary prize. We are delighted to present the money to Noel and Mildred given the tough time they have had. The family is a regular customer of Donnelly’s and has bought a number of cars and vans from the group over the years, so it’s great to be able to thank them for their custom,” he said

“We wanted to give something back to all our customers who have been so loyal to us over the past 65 years.”

The Donnelly Group employ 550 people and have branches in Ballymena, Belfast, Dungannon, Eglinton, Enniskillen and Mallusk.
