PORTADOWN firm Craigmore Industrial and Engineering Solutions has tripled its online sales with the help of Invest Northern Ireland.

The engineering firm sells a range of equipment such as welding equipment, sweepers, power washers, protection equipment and workshop tools. Craigmore is now exporting products to customers in Great Britain and the Republic of Ireland for the first time.

In a bid to generate more export sales and grow its customer base, the company recently invested over £50,000. Invest NI have had a role to play in the company’s success story contributing £22,315, as part of the European Regional Development Fund, towards the firm’s £51,130 investment. The financial boost is targeted at developing the website, sustaining the recent recruitment of a Business Development Executive and to support the implementation of an extensive sales and marketing strategy.

Craigmore have been established for over 25 years and have seen online sales grow rapidly since the launch of its website last year. Geoff Baird, managing director of Craigmore, insists they couldn’t have done it alone.

“The site www.craigmoreonline.co.uk is designed to be user friendly, simple to navigate and this has been vital to our success.

“The assistance we’ve received from Invest NI has given us the confidence and capabilities to explore new markets and revenue streams.” he said.

“Investing in our marketing capabilities was essential to successfully grow our business outside Northern Ireland and our online sales have been rising each month as a result,” he added.

Invest NI work with individuals, companies and organisations in manufacturing and tradable services which show a commitment to grow by being more internationally focused, more entrepreneurial and more innovative. Mark Bleakney, Invest NI’s douthern regional manager, believes Craigmore has that focus and ambition they look for.

“Craigmore is committed to raising its profile among new customers, particularly in the Republic of Ireland. This drive is now paying off as the company has experienced an impressive uplift in sales since it embraced e-commerce. With a dedicated marketing resource and a clear sales strategy in place, Craigmore will have a solid foundation to build up a competitive market position outside Northern Ireland.” he said.
