THE Gateway Theatre will once again tread the boards with the Sam Cree comedy classic,‘Married Bliss’, under the directorship of Millie O’Kasilli.

The venue is Portadown Town Hall on Friday, May 10 and Saturday, May 11, and director Millie has assembled an experienced cast who know how to bring the best out of this Ulster comedy.

The premise of ‘Married Bliss’ centres on Colin and Grace Ramsey (Nigel Dawson and Nicole Lappin) who go for a restful country break to a farm near Ballymena, owned by Angus Calvin Knox (Lawrence Cinnamond). Knox is a dour skinflint of a man, whose spinster sister Mary Rose (Dawn Balmer) is desperately pursuing the hired help, Donald McDonald (Graham Fenton), the love of her life.

Food is scarce and expensive, so in return for some freebies, Grace offers to help Mary Rose develop her womanly skills. However, the peace of the countryside is interrupted by the arrival of their daughter Janet (Chloe Wilson) and her baby, Mrs Martha Ramsey (Eleanor Barr), Colin’s formidable mother, and finally brother James and wife Joyce (Stanley Liggett and Deniese Lavery).

Angus holds a birthday party for his sister and things get complicated when Martha decides to hold a seance. Will the ghosts appear and more importantly....will Mary Rose get her man?

Tickets are available from Winnie’s Newsagents in Woodhouse Street and may be available on the door.
