Lynsey does the bungee to raise funds for hospital unit

Lynsey decided to raise the money for the unit as her grandfather spent a month in the ward earlier this year and the family appreciated the care he received there. LYNSEY Davison was so grateful to the intensive care unit at Craigavon Hospital for the treatment her grandfather received last year that she decided to put herself through a terrifying ordeal.
The 19-year-old did a 300 ft bungee jump in Carrickfergus earlier this month, in the process raising £815 for Craigavon’s ICU unit.
As Lynsey admits, the wait on the day wasn’t particularly enjoyable experience. The nerves peaked as a petrified Lynsey and friend Sinead O’Hare (20) jumped off the edge!
“We got down to Carrickfergus around 2pm but we didn’t jump to after 4pm. Watching everyone kind of put our mind at ease but at the same time we had to watch everyone go before us,” said Lynsey. “Once we got strapped up the nerves really kicked in and once we started to belt up we looked down and it hit us what we were actually doing.
“When we got to the top and ready to go Sinead looked petrified and I felt so sick but we took a deep breath and went. It was an incredible feeling.”
Lysney is delighted to have made a difference to the intensive care unit at Craigavon.
“This cause was extremely close to home as my granda spent four weeks in the ward at the end of November last year,” she added. “Without the care and dedication of the staff he would not be with us today, their work cannot be faulted.
“The work they do on a daily basis does not get the recognition which it deserves. First of all I would like to thank Sinead O’Hare for taking part in all this with me, without her I can honestly say I would not have gone through with it. We would also like to thank every single person who donated money, every penny was greatly appreciated and it will allow the ICU ward to continue the phenomenal work which they do.”
