Man charged with David Mills’ murder
Murder victim Davy Mills spent seven seasons with Portadown Football Club.
A 30-year-old man has been charged with the murder of former Portadown Football Club player, David Mills, in County Down at the weekend.
David Mills, 47, suffered head injuries in an attack at Dromore Street, Ballynahinch, during the early hours of Sunday morning. He died in hospital.
The man is due to appear at Newtownards Magistrates Court today (Tuesday).
Mr Mills was well-known in Dundrum and was a former manager of his local football team, Drumaness Mills Football Club.
He had been socialising with friends following a local cricket club win on Saturday afternoon.
He spent seven seasons at Shamrock Park during the most successful era in the club’s history.
