Man (23) admits possession of cannabis resin

A 23-year-old man was given 60 hours community service last Thursday at Craigavon court for a drugs offence.

Martin McGurgan, of Selshion Hall, Portadown,admitted possession of cannabis on September 24 last year.

The court heard that when police searched the defendant’s home they found three small pieces of cannabis resin. He said they were for his own personal use.

Mr Gabriel Ingram, representing the defendant, said McGurgan had previous similar offences in 2007, 2008 and 2009.

He added that the defendant recognised he has a problem and has been attending with his GP.

District Judge, Mr Alan White, told McGurgan that he would go to prison if he reoffended.

He imposed a combination order of probation for 12 months and 60 hours community service.
