THE Portadown Times wants you, our readers, to help us find the person who made Portadown most proud during 2012.

The Portadown’s Person To be Proud Of is an award launched by the paper to recognise the huge contribution made by a great many people from this town.

Do you know someone who helps to make Portadown special? Is there an individual, a volunteer, local personality or someone else who deserves recognition for their achievements or for the community spirit they have shown?

If you do, we want you to contact us as we draw up our shortlist for the second Portadown’s Person To Be Proud Of award.

Last year the competition was won by the popular doctor, Gilbert Carson, when more than 1,000 public votes were cast.

The closing date for nominations is Monday, February 11 at 1pm. The ﬁnal shortlist will be revealed in the Portadown Times on Friday, February 15 when readers will have the chance to vote for their winner. The winner will receive an outstanding prize. All four of main shopping centres, Asda, Magowan West, The Meadows and High Street Mall, will be donating shopping vouchers to our winner, totalling over £400 in value.
