Olive appeals for CDs sold by mistake at CCTT to be returned

SCOTTISH music aficionado Olive Whitten brought a selection of her favourite CDs to let the public listen to them at her church hall while she helped with the catering during the recent Country Comes to Town event in Portadown.

But members of the public enjoyed the sounds of Caledonia so much that they ended up buying a plethora of Olive’s cherished CDs - inadvertently, as it turned out.

Said Mrs Whitten, “I brought in about 30 CDs which a technically-minded member of the church (Armagh Road Presbyterian) played over the sound system. They were in a cardboard box and well away from the general items on sale.”

But somehow they found their way into the ‘sales’ area and about a dozen were sold before Olive realised what had happened - she believed the ‘sold’ CDs include her favourite tracks by the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra, pipe band music and others by Phil Coulter.

Mrs Whitten added, “It was one of those things, but I really would like the CDs back. Our minister Mrs Christina Bradley had the mistake announced at various churches the following day, but they haven’t turned up. I love Scottish music and I hope they turn up.”

She is treasurer of the Portadown Scottish Country Dancing Association, and never misses the chance to get a ‘plug’ in for the group, which meets at Seagoe Old School every Wednesday at 8pm, and appeals for more members to join - “it’s great fun and fellowship, and excellent exercise, with great music”.

Anyone who bought the CDs by mistake - and doesn’t realise it - can contact Olive via the Portadown Times on 0770 109 2654, and the purchasers will, of course, have the price of the CDs refunded, and Olive is willing to make them a copy of the particular CD.
