Police arrest woman in vice probe

A WOMAN was arrested in Portadown on Wednesday on suspicion of controlling prostitution for gain and possession of criminal property.

The 58-year-old was taken into custody after a search of premises in the James Street area of the town.

Over £1,000 cash was seized which, police said, will be the subject of a Proceeds of Crime Application at court in due course.

The woman was interviewed and subsequently released unconditionally.

Neighbourhood Inspector for the area Philip Shepherd said, “This investigation underlines the PSNI’s commitment to investigate human exploitation in Northern Ireland and we would like to thank the local community for their help in providing information about these activities.

“We will investigate all reports that we receive and we encourage the community to continue to come forward and report it to police on 0845 600 8000, or through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
