PUPILS from six Portadown schools took to the stage recently for the Drumcree College ‘We’ve Got Talent’ night.

The audience was treated to a feast of singing, dancing and acting from children at Ballyoran PS, Hart Memorial PS, Portadown Integrated PS, Presentation PS, St John the Baptist PS and Drumcree College.

Judges for the evening, Dr Arthur Cassidy, Fra McCann, a music teacher, and Pat Thornbury, a drama teacher, had a very difficult task, with Dr Cassidy describing it as a “sheer pleasure and delight” to listen to and judge the various performers who, he said, were all winners in their own right.

First prize of a trophy, High Street Mall shopping vouchers and the chance to record a personal CD at Mogul Studios went to Grace Hagan; joint second went to Chloe McConville, Morgan Eadie and Chloe Henty. All three won trophies and the chance to record their own CD at Mogul Studios.

In third place were Madison Hall, Alice McGinn, Dia McCrory and Evita Maksus who were presented with cut glass stars.

All participants received a personalised certificate, a small trophy and an Easter egg.

Dr Cassidy also commended Drumcree College for building bridges across the community of music and drama.

Organisers Anita McGibbon and Geraldine Al-janabi would like to thank everyone who helped in any way to make the night such a huge success, especially the audience who came out to support them. A special thanks goes to the staff River Dance team for their surprise act!

All proceeds from this year’s show are being donated towards laser surgery for Owen Tohill, a pupil in Drumcree College who has a rare degenerative eye condition, Keratoconus, which can result in blindness if not treated.

After Easter, Drumcree College will be sending out raffle tickets to all primary school with the prize a pair of One Direction tickets.

The total raised so are is more than £2,000. Anyone who would like to donate to the appeal should contact the school on 028 3833 4725
