PORTADOWN woman Rachelle Liggett won the award for the Best Dressed Lady at Balmoral Show last week.

The 21-year-old student teacher wowed the judges with a a beautiful outfit that blended elegance and originality seamlessly.

A jaw-dropping array of prizes encouraged the largest number of entrants for the competition so far but Rachelle’s dramatic hemline and flamboyant headpiece helped to clinch the much coveted first place title.

She took home a selection of prizes including a Topflight holiday for two to Italy, a beneficial handmade cosmetics hamper and vouchers to spend at Aaron Heaney Hairdressing and Eden Park.

Organisers told the competitors that style is all about how you put an outfit together and how you carry if off, not about how much it cost.

Each entrant had a chance to chat to judges, former Miss Great Britain Gemma Garrett, IN! Magazine’s Lisa Harrison and Topflight’s Jill Russell to explain the inspiration behind their outfit.

Winner Rachelle said, “I loved the simple elegance of Audrey Hepburn, it is a timeless look that never dates.

“It was inspired by the Belfast designer Una Rodden and her unusual cuts and stitching.

“I mixed and matched — the dress was from Candy Plum, the hat was from Debenhams, the shoes were Kurt Geiger and the bag was from New Look.”
