SYMPATHIES have been extended to the family of a cyclist who was killed following a crash on the Mahon Road on Thursday.
The man died after a collision with a car.
Councillor Darryn Causby said, “Firstly I would like to offer my heartfelt sympathies and condolences to the family of the victim, this is a terrible tragedy which reminds us of the futility of life and my thoughts firmly lie with those who have been tragically robbed of a loved one.
“I would urge all road users to take great care whilst on the roads and appeal to cyclists and motorcyclists to wear the appropriate reflective and protective equipment when out and about to ensure maximum safety and visibility.
“Although my words will bring little comfort to a grief stricken family I pray in these difficult days they will know God’s comforting embrace.”
Ulster Unionist Colin McCusker said, “My heart goes out to the family of this man, so tragically killed in this accident. This is everyone’s worst nightmare.”
