Three armed robberies in borough within hours of each other

POLICE are probing a possible link between three armed burglaries which took place across the borough within hours of each other.

The first incident took place at a travel company in the Church Place area of Lurgan yesterday (Thursday) when two men who entered the shop around 7.20pm and threatened staff with a screwdriver before making off empty handed.

One of the males involved is described as 5’11” tall, of slim build and wearing a white hoody and white scarf over face. The second male is described as approx 5’8” tall and wearing a navy hoody. The men made off in a black Seat Leon car that appears to have been waiting for them. The driver of this car was wearing a white hooded top and had letters tattooed behind his right ear.

A supermarket appears to have been the second target by the assailants when a supermarket in the Balteagh Road area, Craigavon, was targeted an hour later around 8.30pm. Two men entered the store, heading directly for the tills when one the men threatened the cashier with a knife. The men fled the scene with an amount of money.

However, a money box and a knife were subsequently recovered a short distance away.

One of the males is described as around 6’ in height, with a front tooth missing and another chipped. He was wearing light grey coloured hoody, The second male is described as 6’ tall and wearing a dark-coloured hoody, navy and white scarf pulled up over his face.

The final armed robbery took place at a filling station on the Lurgan Road in Portadown at around 3.15am this morning (Friday).

Two men - one dressed in a reflective jacket and his face covered - entered the premises and threatened staff with a knife while their accomplice, a third man, kept watch at the door. All three made off in the direction of Bachelors Walk.

They are described as all around 6ft, and dark clothing although one was wearing a Hi Vis jacket.

Police say they are pursuing a link between all three robberies as one line of enquiry.
