DRUMCREE College will be open for the new academic year starting in September, despite plans to close it eventually.

The Council for Catholic Maintained Schools (CCMS) told the Portadown Times yesterday (Thursday) there will be no change in the school for 2013-2014.

However, in a post-primary document released this week, it says it still believes the school ‘is not sustainable or viable in its current format’ and that a ‘managed and phased closure’ is needed.

It is to begin a consultation process with governors, staff, parents and pupils.
