Lottery awards for community groups

A number of community groups have been awarded grants under the Big Lottery Fund's Awards for All scheme.

Portadown YMCA has received £7,750 which it will use to deliver a community festival in three estates, including a summer scheme, trips and a range of activities.

Salters Grange True Blues LOL 36, which provides a community venue for social events, band practice and training, will spend its £10,000 grant on

making improvements to the hall and providing basic first aid training.

Scarva and District Community Association has been awarded £10,000 which it will use to transform a piece of wasteland beside the village green into a garden of reflection.

Maghery Youth Club will spend their £6,150 award for activities including a summer scheme in August, a residential, and play equipment.

The Fitzone Foundation, which promotes health and fitness in the Craigavon area and organises activities for all age groups, have been granted £8,592 to

provide an eight-month programme of activities at a local community hall for all age groups and fitness levels.

LLT Women’s Group provides social and recreational activities for women in the rural areas of Laurencetown, Lenaderg and Tullylish. They are using the £5,345 to deliver a range of activities, trips and classes.

The Bulgarian Association of Northern Ireland will spend its £2,500 grant to deliver to cultural concerts and rehearsals for dancers in Armagh.

The Westenders older people’s group in Armagh has been granted £7,245 which it will use to organise events such as tea dances, social outings and exercise.
