A Portadown man was detected drink-driving following a two-day alcohol binge.
Paul O’Donnell (44), from Derryvinney Road, Portadown, was stopped by police in the Grange Road area of Ballygawley on May 5.
An odour of alcohol was detected. He immediately admitted to consuming alcohol earlier in the day and was arrested and taken to Dungannon Custody Suite.
Whilst there, an evidential specimen of breath returned a reading of 60mg, which is 25mg in excess of the legal limit.
At East Tyrone Magistrates Court a defence solicitor conceded O’Donnell has “a horrendous criminal record” and that this was the third drink-driving conviction in 10 years.
The defence said his client was detected after recovering from a two-day drinking binge. District Judge John Meehan imposed a fine of £200 and disqualified him from driving for seven years.
