Man claimed £8,000 benefits

A man was convicted at Craigavon Magistrates’ Court for claiming benefits he was not entitled to on Tuesday.

Jeffrey McClean (38) of The Hawthorns, Portadown claimed Jobseekers Allowance and Rates Relief totalling £8,010 while failing to declare employment. He was sentenced to 140 hours community service.

He is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
