A Portadown man who turned down the advice of his friends to go home was fined £200 last Friday at Craigavon Magistrates Court for disorderly behaviour on April 12 this year.

Sean Nixon (22) from Beech Meadows in Portadown, was also ordered to pay a £15 offender’s levy.

The court heard that at 2am in the Magowan Buildings car park Nixon, who was very drunk, was seen trying to goad three people.

Police warned him about his behaviour but he continued, using the ‘f’ word frequently.

A solicitor representing the defendant said Nixon had been out at a local bar with friends when he met his former girlfriend.

He added that they had split up two weeks previously and agreed to meet outside to talks about things.

The solicitor said Nixon went to a fast food outlet and his friends were urging him to go home but he wanted to stay on.

The police came over and he ignored further advice to leave with his friends and go home.
