Police have received further reports of a man selling knives in suspicious circumstances in Portadown yesterday.

The man, who was in the West Street area around 12.17pm on Monday, made off when police were contacted.

He is believed to have been driving a dark-coloured Toyota Avensis car with Irish number plates.

It is believed the same man also stopped in Bridge Street to ask directions.

Just two weeks ago, police seized knife sets, bedding towels and pots and pans from a silver Toyota Avensis in the Tullyroan Drive area of Portadown, after being alerted by a member of the public.

Following that incident, a PSNI spokesperson said the details of the car’s occupants were taken and they would be liaising with Trading Standards.

Inspector Duncan McBain of Portadown Neighbourhood Policing Team urged anyone who noticed any type of suspicious activity to contact them.

He advised them to make a note of the colour and make of the vehicle and the registration number, as well as a description of the person acting suspiciously.
