Man kicked door off its hinges during incident at his mother’s

In a drunken episode a 21-year-old man kicked his mother’s living room door off its hinges and smashed her phone, Craigavon Magistrates Court heard last Wednesday.

Jonathan Pollock, Ashtree Hill, Armagh, admitted unlawful damage to the door and phone on April 9 this year.

The court heard police were called to a domestic incident at Deramore Drive, Portadown.

A solicitor for the defendant said he was now residing with his sister and that his mother was at court with him. There were no issues between them and matters had been resolved. He added that Pollock had been drinking that night in the house with his mother. He had quite a lot to drink and suffered a blackout. The solicitor said he seemed to become aggressive when drinking.

The solicitor said that the defendant had been suffering from chest pains and had been in hospital. After the court he was going back to hospital.

He explained he had told staff about his issue with alcohol and he had been referred to the Brownlow addictions clinic. The case was adjourned until May 21 for a short sentence report.
