Man ordered to pay over £600 after damaging door belonging to former girlfriend

A Portadown man was ordered to pay over £600 last Wednesday at Craigavon Court for the damage he caused to a door and car belonging to his former girlfriend.

Martin Quinn (41), Ballyoran Heights, was given a conditional discharge for two years after he admitted assaulting a female and criminal damage on May 16 and May 28.

On June 17 the injured party reported that the defendant had caused damage to her door. It cost £198 to repair. He said he only pushed the bottom pane of glass out and used his other hand to open the door.

On May 16 police found the injured party crying and shaking at an address in Portadown. She claimed she had been assaulted by the defendant and he had caused damage to the door of her vehicle. The damage was £414.

Defence said he was more than willing to pay for the damage. He added there had been no repetition of this during the deferment and Quinn accepted that the relationship was finished.

Quinn was told to pay £198 and £414 restitution and £75 compensation to the injured party.
